HSA announced that 1 August 2023 will be the commencement date for Phase 2 of the voluntary notification for the Health Supplement (HS) and Traditional Medicines (TM). The initiative is the continuation of Phase 1, which commenced on 1 August 2022 covering vitamin, mineral supplements, and higher-risk adulteration products.
Products included in the Phase 2 are:
Health supplements and traditional medicines: probiotics, omega fatty acids, herbal cough, cold, and flu, glucosamine, and tonics
Medicated oils, balms, and plasters
HSA initiated voluntary notification to establish safe and good quality complementary health products as references for consumers during purchases. The database will also be used for follow-up actions required for any safety or quality issues.
Participant companies were required to provide documents to HSA to demonstrate that the products comply with the necessary requirements and standards. For new industry participants, please refer HSA website for more details on the submission requirements and procedures.
