Saudi Arabia: Requirements for clearance of medical devices supplies for Pilgrim Use

An updated version of Regulations and Requirements for the clearance of medicines, pharmaceutical products, medical devices and supplies, and food products that arrive for pilgrims’ use was published on 6 June 2021 on the SFDA website. The update is mainly on changing the letter for clearance to email.


Content of the guidance included conditions, rules and requirements for:

- Importations of medicines, medical devices and supplies that are in the possession of Pilgrim Affairs Offices or

official government agencies.

- Medical devices, pharmaceutical products or medicines that arrive with doctors accompanying Hajj campaign

coming through air, sea or land for emergency use by pilgrims during the duration of travel to reach the holy

sites.

- Medical devices, medicines and supplies that arrive in the possession of pilgrims for personal use.
