Due to the uncontrollable demands nationwide, there were medicine and medical device shortages in a short time. On top of that, no data synchronization between the data center and healthcare facilities increased the difficulties of data integration. Indonesia has more than 400 healthcare applications owned by the government that has not been integrated into each other.

In order to prevent the issue worsened, on August 2022, the Ministry of Health (MoH) of Indonesia introduces an innovative solution which is a pharmaceutical and medical device dictionary named, Kamus Farmasi dan Alat Kesehatan (KFA). KFA will be connected with SATUSEHAT, an application, [AA1] as an integration platform for data exchange between hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories and clinics.

KFA functions through a web browser platform called KFA Browser. Every medicine and medical device registered in the KFA Browser will be given a unique code representing the identity. The unique code will be used to browse the product information. So now manufacturers, distributors, medical professionals and the public may access to the information.

The number of data registered in KFA is increasing time by time and is expected to reach the target of 133.101 by the end of the year. KFA is expected to smoothen the data integration for the pharmacy and medical device supply chain. Besides, KFA also should give accurate data analysis related to medicine and medical devices nationally and help to detect the demand pattern due to diseases outbreak or natural disasters. The graph below explains the milestone for KFA.

Soon, KFA will be used as the main reference system for the drugs and medical device information together with e-Katalog. All manufacturers and distributors have been announced to list the products in the KFA, synchronizing with the data in e-Katalog. If the products are found not listed in KFA starting 6 April 2023, there is a possibility of the products being taken down or freeze in e-Katalog.
