Singapore NEA Additional Control List of Mercury-Added Product

Following the consultation with industry since Aug 2016, the Singapore National Environment Agency (“NEA”) gazette additional controls for mercury-added products under the Environmental Protection and Management Act (“EPMA”) on 29 Dec 2017.

With effect from 1 Jan 2020, the manufacture, import and export of the following mercury-added products will not be allowed:

1 Compact fluorescent lamps with more than 5mg mercury per lamp and linear/circular fluorescent lamps with more than 10mg mercury per lamp are already controlled under the EPMA. The import and sale of non-compliant fluorescent lamps for local use have not been allowed since 1 Jul 2012.

2 Mercury clinical thermometers are already controlled under the EPMA. The import and sale of new mercury clinical thermometers for local use have not been allowed since 1 Jul 2009.
